#2 The Red Trade -

An Amazon #1 Bestseller (in genre)

A disturbing story of human trafficking that reveals hidden truths that many wish to deny exist.
Anita is a happy and healthy girl, but she has a problem, something that sets her aside from her peers, an inescapable condition. Anita is white, yet her heart and blood are pure African.
Anita is albino. A cursed child; an abomination.
Junior and Uncle are happy, carefree twins. Mischievous boys, full of life, pranks and optimism.
Natasha is a happy go lucky schoolgirl without a care in the world.
But they all share one thing in common. They are targets for The Red Trade, and a criminal gang is operating in their small corner of Africa. And customers around the world eagerly await.
Fortunately there are people willing to stand up and shout, “Enough is enough.” Glenn Ridgely is one such man, and with the help of his street-wise Kenyan girlfriend Ruth, and world weary Kalenjin police officer, Morgan. He sets about dismantling their sinister and sordid empire.
The Red Trade - A story that ranges from the IDP camps of northern Uganda to the wide, majestic plains of the Serengeti, and far across the Indian Ocean to distant Pakistan. A tale of abuse, subjugation, cruelty and superstition, morality, and finally hope and redemption.

#3 Finding Justine – Libertine -

In 1787, whilst being held prisoner in the Bastille, Marquis Donatien Alphonse François de Sade wrote a novella entitled Les infortunes de la vertu. In 1791 the enhanced edition was published with the title Justine ou Les Malheurs de la vertu, or in English - Justine, or The Misfortunes of Virtue. This was his first published work, and on the instruction of Napoleon Bonaparte, Justine ensured that he spent the remaining 13 years of his life in prison, seemingly the book sickened the stomach as easily back then as it does today!

Let us jump forward just over 200 years and meet Earl Marcus de Silverleigh, a dot com billionaire and devotee of the Marquis and his writings.
A man of unspeakable depravity, and with the wealth to indulge even the wildest of fantasies. A man determined to re-enact de Sades sadistic masterpiece. A man driven to transpose Justine from fantasy to reality.
He simply needs to find her... and money is no object.

Theresa Vasilev is unfortunate enough to fit his vision of Justine perfectly, she is innocent, beautiful and God fearing... who better to suffer the ultimate torment. Stolen from her home in Sofia, Bulgaria, she is delivered into sexual abuse and slavery as Marcus grooms and shapes her to play the role he has cast for her.
Only one man can save her, and they have never met. Can Adam (Mr Average) Hurst stand up the Earl and dream of victory? Can Theresa survive the horrors and torture that Marcus has planed for her? Will wealth and power prove mightier that law and justice?
Find out in Finding Justine – Libertine.

Disclaimer: This work is based upon the writings of The Marquis de Sade, and although it should not be considered as erotica, scenes of sexual sadism and torture are described.. reader discretion is advised.

A Call to Action!!

I am afraid that the blog has been severely neglected of late. So much going on, change of publisher, manuscripts to adjust, edit etc.

As from the 17th April 2016 I no-longer have any connection with Creativia, our working relationship had run its course, and it was time to move on!

The majority of my books are now published through Pronoun. I feel that they offer a very good service as a one stop self publishing aid.
They offer rank / sales tracking on Amazon.com (for any book!), but what is most impressive... when asked for key search words, selection of genre, Pronoun has a facility to highlight the most suitable genres and most commonly searched keywords, which takes a great deal of guesswork out of the publishing process and product positioning.
In addition, from cover and manuscript submission to actual publication on Amazon, (based on the publication of several books) it generally takes around 5 hours to go live. (also 5 hours for Kobo, similar for iTunes, a little longer for Google Play, and about 10 days for B&N Nook) With Lulu, (who are also very good), from submission to actual publication on Amazon has been taking 10 to 14 days.

Because of the change in publisher, Traffik: The Stolen Girls has been issued with a new Amazon ASIN (B01EGC638U), which has sadly erased its former bestseller ranking, so now, rather than hovering between #20 and #100 it has disappeared into the millions of unranked books that make up the vast majority of Amazons listings...

Call to Action:

Just a few sales, especially when occurring on the same day, can make a massive difference to a books ranking... and with this in mind, I am asking a huge favour.
If you enjoy contemporary fiction, stories of hardship and suffering that make you angry, stories of redemption and victory that will make you cheer. Then you will enjoy Traffik: The Stolen Girls, the tale of four innocent girls stolen from their homes and forced into a life of degradation. Learn about their former lives, journey with them as they are trafficked into Spain, and find out if they can ever escape and make their way back home.

Traffik is for sale now at only $2.99 (about £2.00)  See it on Amazon
If you are looking for a 5 Star rated bestseller, maybe something a little different to read, why not download Traffik now! Please help me to get the top 100 ranking back. If you can't buy now, then please consider reposting this message to your own network... please help me to spread the word.

Two other books have also been republished:

Peninah's Passion, a spicy interracial romantic adventure. The story of a couple (bwwm) who find themselves caught up in a police investigation into a Colombian drug cartel. They find themselves on the run pursued by a hired killer, but what is of greater concern to Peninah... her past is beginning to catch up with her, and she worries that her unadventurous husband Alex will not understand her true nature and need for fetish.
Amazon have listed the book, (once again) under Erotica... and to be honest I'm not fighting their decision any more, for a year and a half I have been struggling to keep it in Romance. All that I will say is that while the book does feature some decidedly naughty scenes, it is definitely not erotica.
(It's rather ironic that at the same time I have struggled to keep Traffik out of the Romance genre. Abduction and forced prostitution are not exactly romantic subjects!)

The Fountain of Saba has also been republished. The first book in my Ayana Regassa Adventures series. (Tokoloshe – the second part is already published.)
A spiritual adventure set in the Highlands of Ethiopia. Ayana Regassa is a researcher and historian, and she has a theory, an unconventional idea that few are willing to consider.
She wants to prove the existence of Makeda, the legendary Queen of Sheba, and to do so she must track down mythological sites, many of which are mentioned in the Prester John Letter. With the backing of a wealthy German industrialist she assembles a team of experts, but little does she know that her infirm benefactor has another agenda, and he seeks far more than historical proof.

Here are the new Amazon links for all three books.

News for March

It's March already, 2016 is racing away.

With so many books already promised for this year it doesn't seem prudent to be starting a new project, but when inspiration strikes!!!

Released this year:

Sleepwalker. (Published through Pronoun)

Set in Fuengirola, my own base for much of 2002, and an eventful time. I had just returned to Europe from South Africa and was busy negotiating the terms on a bar and restaurant in Benalmadena, ETA planted a bomb just down the road, and I still clearly remember the blast almost throwing me out of bed.
One lasting impression of the Spanish coast is the moonlit beach at Sohail, and in my mind, it was the perfect setting for this story about a young somnambulist who finds herself caught in the middle of a murder investigation.

Deborah Grant is a normal, healthy teenager. A girl standing at a crossroads in her young life, and she has a decision to make:
Allow her loving yet domineering father to dictate her future, or.
Strike out on her own, follow her heart and dare to dream?

A long holiday is what she needs, and the Costa del Sol has beckoned. Fuengirola has welcomed the buxom blonde into its sun-drenched embrace.

But the Spanish resort reveals deeply buried desires, desires that she had never dared to dream lived inside her, desires that cause Deborah to rise from her bed in the early hours... and in a trance, she walks.

Disturbing, yet harmless she imagines...
Until the morning that she wakes to a nightmare discovery.
Suddenly, Debbie is terrified to close her eyes!

Sleepwalker, a psychological thriller that will make you wonder just how safe it is to fall asleep!

***

Amazon, in their usual heavy handed manner have already culled a 5 Star review for Sleepwalker. Quite how they justify these random acts, I don't understand. I have lost several reviews just recently, as have many other authors. It seems a classic case of catch 22. In order to promote, authors have to use social media, we connect with readers, build a following. Sometimes a connection will buy a new book, sometimes they will volunteer to review in exchange for a free copy. Amazon then decide to delete the review... because the author knows the reviewer???
How can we possibly win?
So please buy my book, and if you enjoy it write a review... but for heavens sake, don't add me on twitter or facebook, because if Amazon find out... you are likely to get deleted!

Here is the review, I managed to copy it from Scribd where it is actually still live.

Disclaimer: I was given a free electronic edition of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Sleepwalker is not the type of book that I would usually select, and the first few chapters led me to believe that I wouldn't be rating it very highly – and then suddenly BANG, the plot twists began as more diverse characters entered the story. From that moment on it became a well crafted and suspenseful who-dunnit, and that uncertainty is carried right through to the very last page.
Basically, without giving too much away, Sleepwalker is the story of Debbie Grant, a wilful teenager, away from her protective father for the first time, and like most eighteen year olds alone on Spain's Coast de Sol, she's going a little crazy. Until she suddenly discovers that, unaware, she leaves her bed in the middle of the night... and sleepwalks.
She is also unaware that her nocturnal wanderings have made her the obsession of a psychopath. A man determined that she will belong to him, and him alone.
And so begins a sinister game of cat and mouse, as a cold and calculating serial killer stalks the pretty blonde, violently eliminating threats and competition, only a Captain of the Guardia Civil stands between her and the menace, a man old enough to be her father... but the man that she has become determined is her soul mate as she unwittingly sets up the final showdown.

Difficult to pinpoint the exact genre, this book is a wonderful mix of romance, suspense and police procedural, a gripping psychological thriller.

Highly recommended.

Pre-order. Due out end of April – beginning of May.

Doomsday – The Jihadist

Another psychological thriller. Set in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest this book explores a nightmare scenario... what would happen if a weapon that all feared to use fell into the hands of fanatics. Terrorists that believe that the power of prayer will protect them from the apocalypse that they are about to release.

The consequences of its release would be too horrific!
A biological weapon so devastating that not even the most deranged would ever consider using it. Or so the security agencies hope.
But what if the deranged are also deluded, believing that prayer is protection enough against a pathogen that kills everything in its path.
One such believer is The Jihadist, and he will stop at nothing to win his holy war.

And so the story races from the deep jungles of Brazil to the bustle of Tokyo, from icy Denmark to the heat and dust of Yemen.

Fate has chosen two men to oppose the Jihadist and expose his network, and for the sake of mankind – They must not fail.

Online Store Fiasco

I'm starting to get my head around e-commerce, and have been playing this evening with an online store... according to the website it was going to be free to set-up and run. Great, I thought, a facebook shop that links into my website and blog also... very convenient. So I spend a couple of hours adding books in different formats, the descriptions, prices etc., etc. Only to discover when I went to make the store live... it's not exactly free, in fact in order to sell ebooks I have to upgrade. Very misleading, and a complete waste of time.

So I'm back onto payhip, and will be adding all of the books onto their platform. Gondell's Quest is first up, Mobi, ePub and PDF formats. (the PDF is 50% off until the 30th Jan, so use the coupon code - 5EAV3A4P58)

Other books will be added soon, and the links will added onto the book pages on my website shortly (www.andy-lang.top)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to All. I hope that 2016 will prove to be everything that you dream!

Well the New Year has started with a sizzle here in East Africa, the temperatures are soaring, and making life decidedly uncomfortable.
It's difficult to write under these conditions, so I'm taking a break. Since August 2014 I've barely taken a breath, seven full length novels and a short story (the intro to a trilogy) almost 1 million words in total, so I don't think a couple of months off is going to hurt. It will perhaps give me a chance to do a little promotion and marketing.
I started an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign just before New Year, as I expected, the response has been decidedly underwhelming… just a fresh batch of emails daily, each telling me how, (for a modest fee) they can help me to reach my funding target… Now correct me if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick… but surely the idea of crowdfunding is to get people to add finance to a project, not spend money in the hope that a third party can fulfill their promises!
So, to cut a long story short… Indiegogo, is an Indie..no-go in my opinion, and Gondell's Quest will get a more modest promotion rather than the BookBub push that I had planned… such is life.

Harvester 7 is rapidly climbing the rankings, in the most unexpected of places!!! It has achieved Top 100 Bestseller ranking in Science Fiction in Germany, Italy, Australia… and Japan.

I have also noticed that Traffik and Peninah's Passion are now for sale on Amazon China!!

My website domain has been screwed up... andylang-books.com is now no-longer mine, something that I'm working on at the moment... mainly because the Kenyan hosting company don't know their ar**s from their elbows. So until I can untangle the Kenyan mess, I'm without an official website!

2016 has begun with a few challenges, but that is what makes life interesting.
